
Lexi Kunz
President
Lexi Kunz (she/her) is a rising fourth-year undergraduate student at the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester, studying percussion performance, arts leadership, and business.Lexi participates in the Eastman Wind Ensemble, Eastman Philharmonia, and Eastman Percussion Ensemble, along with various chamber groups, such as the Eastman Saxophone Project and OSSIA. Passionate about new music, Lexi is the current President of OSSIA, Eastman’s student-operated new music organization. Setting an example for female musicians and percussionists, Lexi aims to perform in a symphony orchestra or operate her own percussion quartet in the future. Currently, Lexi is an extra percussionist / timpanist with the Syracuse Orchestra in NY.
This past summer, Lexi has attended the Mostly Modern Festival in Saratoga Springs, NY and Sandbox Percussion Seminar at The New School in Manhattan, NY. Passionate about developing as a leader, the Arts Leadership Certificate and business minor will prepare Lexi to open her own music store, offering instruments and recording services, to serve communities and foster a supportive, musical environment. For the Certificate, Lexi completed a summer internship with Sandbox Percussion, a professional percussion quartet based in Brooklyn, NY. In the fall, she will pursue an internship with the Eastman Community Music School.
In her free time, Lexi enjoys reading novels, doing yoga, and going on outings with her friends in St. Louis, near her hometown, or in Rochester. She would like to thank her family, professor Michael Burritt, and private teachers at home, Daniel Smithiger and Alan Stewart, for their unwavering support and encouragement.
